What this calculator measures

This is a first-order contribution scenario for one fixed-fee campaign. It helps you ask how demanding a quote is relative to your own economics. It does not estimate a creator's market rate or forecast campaign performance. Enter one currency, one observation window and aggregate inputs only.

Eligible landing sessions must use the same definition as conversion. Count at most one first order per session. Video views, impressions and followers are not interchangeable with sessions. Contribution per counted order should include variable fulfilment and payment costs, discounts and expected returns. Keep fixed campaign costs outside it; include any per-order creator commission consistently before using this model.

Formulas you can inspect

Total fixed cost = creator fee + other fixed costs. Counted first orders = sessions × conversion% ÷ 100. Assumed incremental contribution = counted orders × contribution per order × incremental share% ÷ 100. Net contribution = incremental contribution − fixed cost. Scenario return on fixed cost = net contribution ÷ fixed cost; zero cost makes that ratio undefined.

The whole counted order hurdle rounds up fixed cost ÷ (contribution × incremental share). Required conversion divides that hurdle by eligible sessions. Positive costs with zero contribution or zero incremental share have no finite hurdle. A zero-cost campaign has a zero hurdle. Fee headroom = incremental contribution − other costs: a negative value is retained rather than disguised as a zero-fee recommendation.

The whole-order hurdle uses exact integer cents and percentage basis points. Fractional expected order counts remain fractional in the scenario. Rounding the hurdle up does not guarantee a realized outcome: unit contribution and incremental share can vary in reality.

Worked synthetic campaign

Fee 800 + other costs 200 = 1,000. Two thousand eligible sessions at 2% generate 40 assumed counted orders. At 25 contribution each, counted contribution is 1,000. An assumed 50% incremental share gives 500 incremental contribution, −500 net contribution and −50% return on fixed cost. Eighty counted orders, or 4% conversion, are needed to reach the expected hurdle. Fee headroom is 300, not a market price.

At 25% incremental share the same inputs produce −750 net contribution and a 160-order hurdle. At 100%, net is zero and the hurdle is 40. These are sensitivity assumptions; no probabilities or confidence intervals are attached. Do not sum them.

Interpret, export and review

Edit any input to clear the previous result, then calculate again. Reset restores synthetic numeric inputs. Copy or download the JSON to keep your scope, assumptions and limitations with the output. Do not paste customer data in the scope note. If a required input is missing, the tool asks for it rather than assuming zero.

Compare the result with the evidence behind sessions, conversion and contribution. Longer-term brand effects, content reuse, repeat purchases, cannibalization across products and stochastic uncertainty are outside this model. Use the checklist and prompt to record those gaps before a commitment.

Sources and limits

Checked October 19, 2026: Shopify's YouTube influencer guide (March 12, 2026) supports defining the audience, goals, brief and measurement before a partnership. YouTube's branded-content disclosure documentation (publication date unknown) describes platform disclosure and audience controls; those do not replace review of applicable requirements. This worksheet and economic model are original editorial synthesis. No source establishes a universal creator price, conversion rate or incremental sales fraction. Examples are synthetic.
